The Angelique series (14 books so far), set in the period of Louis XIV of France, the Sun King, was the most successful historical fiction series of all time. Over 200 million Angelique books were sold in 46 countries. Five French language films were made in the 60s - and an Angelique film is shown on French TV every 15 days.

The videos still sell well in France and the movies have just been released on DVD. A successful Angelique stage play also ran for several years in Paris in the late 90s.
